Reading Club

Boost Your Reading Skills Today!

In Reading Club, students take part in a novel study along with other children at a similar reading level. An instructor leads a guided reading session, where students are provided with individualized support and instruction to enhance their comprehension, fluency, understanding, and overall reading level. During these sessions, students are engaged in focused discussions, asked thought-provoking questions, and are provided targeted feedback to assist them in developing critical reading strategies. Through guided reading, students gain confidence, become more independent readers, and ultimately achieve greater success in their English reading abilities.

Guided Reading

Guided reading involves placing students with similar reading levels in groups, where they take turns reading and listening to each other. This small Reading Club group allows for individualized support and instruction. Reading materials and strategies are tailored to meet the students' needs, and improve reading skills effectively.

Reading Vocabulary

In Reading Club, students explore different texts and discover unfamiliar words through engaging books and discussions. By actively discussing the meaning, usage, and context of these new words, children are able to enhance their reading vocabulary. Reading Club helps develop a love for reading and continuously expands students' vocabulary.

Reading Fluency

Students read out loud, and listen to others read during Reading Club sessions to improve their reading fluency. Fluency refers to the ability to read smoothly, accurately, and with appropriate expression. It involves reading at an appropriate pace, using proper intonation, and conveying the meaning of the text effectively. Modeling and practicing reading in a small group helps this skill develop.

Comprehension

Reading Club allows students to obtain a deep understanding of the books read by facilitating discussions in a safe environment. Students answer questions both orally and in written format, to further develop their comprehension skills. Fostering good comprehension skills leads students to fall in love with books as they develop a passion for reading.
